How do you Etch Glass?
Well this time it’s not with heat and pressure!!
There are several ways etching can be done, there’s acid etching, and computerised etching etc. The method we use is as follows.
We create the artwork or text in negative and then this is used in conjunction with a light sensitive film to create a simple stencil.
The stencil is applied to the glassware and any small air bubbles are removed.
We then use a fine grit to blast the stencil away to leave an etched image behind.
Each stencil is created individually and each glass is etched by hand. Because of this each glass is likely to have a slightly different finish, as the depth of image may vary etc.
This gives each piece a truly unique finish.
